2-in-1 Deep Treatment Clay Mask (Powder)
Not every clay suits every texture. This one covers all of them.
One Powder. Two Rituals.
Your products stopped working. Your hair didn't.
There's a point where the good stuff stops landing — the cream sits on top, the oil never sinks in, wash day ends and your hair still feels coated. Nothing in your routine went bad. There's just no room left for it.
Make room.
Three clays go on grey and rinse out carrying a month with them — but this isn't the cement you're bracing for. Marshmallow root turns the paste slippery the second it meets liquid, so you're finger-detangling while it's still on, and it comes out clean instead of seizing up on your ends.
Then take what's left in the bowl to your face. Buildup is buildup — the oil sitting in your pores is the same problem as the oil sitting on your strands, and clay doesn't know the difference. Ten minutes and the shine on your T-zone is gone, the congestion around your nose starts to give, and your skin looks smoother by morning. Allantoin keeps it from stripping you on the way, so you finish soft instead of tight.
Seventeen ingredients. No water, no fillers, nothing that needs preserving.
Back to zero. Then start again.
Why It Works:
Four Clays, Four Jobs
Four clays lift product residue, hard water minerals and excess sebum from the scalp and strand. Bentonite is held to twenty percent — a fraction of a conventional clay mask — and balanced by Rhassoul, French green and Kaolin so buildup is removed without stripping the hair and excess oil and surface debris is absorbed from the pores.
The Slip
Mucilage-rich, turning jelly-like the moment it meets liquid. Its mucilage gives the activated clay a silky slip, so you can detangle while it's on and rinse it out without the stiff, cement-like residue that puts most people off clay masks for hair. This is the difference between a clay mask you can work through your hair and one that seizes into concrete.Â
Apple Cider Vinegar
Clays are alkaline. Hair and skin are naturally acidic, around 4.5 to 5.5. Mixing with ACV instead of plain water helps bring the paste toward that acidic range, which is where the cuticle lies flat — better shine, better curl definition, less frizz. Aloe vera water works too and is gentler on the face.

How To Use:
As a hair mask: Mix 3 parts powder to 2 parts apple cider vinegar in a non-metal bowl — about 6 tablespoons powder to 4 tablespoons vinegar for shoulder-length hair. Let it fizz for twenty seconds without stirring, then stir until smooth and rest five minutes. The paste should hold its shape on the spoon — thick cake batter, not pancake batter. Apply to damp hair in four sections, roots to ends, working through with your fingers as you go. Cover with a plastic cap and leave 25 to 30 minutes. The mask should still be soft when you rinse it. If it begins to feel tight, rinse regardless of the clock. Rinse under warm running water for two to four minutes, squeezing each section rather than rubbing. Once weekly. Every other week if your hair runs dry or high-porosity.
As a face mask: Mix 3 parts powder to 2 parts water — or raw honey — to a thinner, spreadable consistency. Apply an even layer to clean skin, avoiding the eye area. Leave 10 to 15 minutes, misting lightly with water if the surface begins to dry. Rinse with warm water and follow with moisturizer. Once or twice weekly. Patch test before first use.
Advanced Protocol: For chronic buildup, hard water, heavy styling product use, or congested skin.
-
Hair — the Two-Stage Treatment
- Stage one — pre-oil. One hour before masking, apply Infused Hair Growth Oil to the scalp and lengths. The oil protects the cuticle while the clay works.
- Stage two — extended contact. Mix as standard. Apply, cover with a plastic cap, and leave forty minutes. Mist the roots lightly through the cap at the twenty-minute mark if you feel any tightening.
Rinse thoroughly. Follow with Hydrating Hair Spray while hair is still damp.
Twice a month maximum. Return to standard in-between.Â
-
Face — the Layered Treatment
- Mix with raw honey instead of water. Honey adds humectancy and extends tolerance on drier skin. Apply a slightly thicker layer. Leave twenty minutes, misting with water at the ten-minute mark to keep the surface from drying. Remove with a warm, damp cloth rather than rinsing directly — the cloth adds gentle physical exfoliation.
Follow immediately with a hydrating layer.
Twice weekly maximum. Not for sensitive skin.
Getting the Most From It:
Use it before your deep conditioner, not instead of it. Clay removes what is blocking absorption. Conditioner replaces what is missing. Most people skip the first step and wonder why the second one stopped working.
Never mix with metal. Glass, ceramic, plastic or wood only. Metal alters the charge that makes clay work.
Mix fresh each time. No water in the jar means no preservatives in the formula. It also means the paste has no shelf life once mixed.
Cover the hair. A plastic cap is what allows thirty minutes of contact. Uncovered, the surface dries and the clay starts pulling moisture out of the hair instead of oil off the scalp.
Store away from steam. No anti-caking agents. Keep the jar sealed and out of the bathroom if the bathroom gets humid.
Rinse longer than feels necessary. Residual clay is the single most common cause of a disappointing result. Two to four minutes.
Expected Results Timeline:
- Weeks 1-2: Hair feels lighter the moment it dries — that is buildup gone, not something added. Shine appears before softness, because the cuticle is lying flat. Curl clumps tighten and definition sharpens, particularly if you have been using heavy butters or silicones. Some people find their hair feels different than expected the first time, because they are feeling their own texture without a coating for the first time in a while. That settles by the second use. On skin, pores look visibly cleaner, texture is smoother to the touch, and your skin lookers clear rather than lighter.
- Weeks 4-6: Other products start working better — leave-ins absorb rather than sitting on top, and you use less of them. Wash days get shorter. Scalp condition stabilizes with consistent comfort rather than occasionally. Length retention begins to show: not faster growth, but less breakage at the ends, which reads the same in the mirror. On skin, oil settles instead of returning by midday. Congestion along the jaw and T-zone eases.
- Weeks 8-12: The cumulative work shows. Moisture holds longer between wash days. Texture feels softer at rest, not only after treatment. On skin, tone evenness becomes visible, post-breakout marks continue to fade, and this is the window where it shows.
- Weeks 12+: You'll notice clean, balanced hair as its normal state rather than its good days (this is where you can move to every other week), tone and texture hold steady on your face. This becomes maintenance, not correction.
Results vary based on hair type, scalp and skin condition, styling habits, overall health, and consistency of use. This product supports the appearance and condition of hair, scalp, and skin. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. If you're experiencing sudden or significant hair loss, or a persistent skin condition, please see a dermatologist.
FAQs
Why a powder instead of a pre-mixed paste?
Pre-mixed clay masks are mostly water, which means they need preservatives to keep mold out of the jar. A dry powder needs none — it's shelf-stable on its own. You're paying for actives, not water, and you activate it fresh each time.
Why apple cider vinegar rather than water?
Clays are alkaline; hair and skin are acidic. Mixing with ACV helps bring the paste toward hair's natural range, which flattens the cuticle for better shine and curl definition. Water works, but ACV gives noticeably better results on hair. For the face, water or honey is gentler.
Can you really use the same mask on hair and face? Yes, because the underlying problem is the same. The oil and residue in your pores is chemically similar to the product residue on your strands, and clay does not distinguish between them. What makes one product work in both places is the slip — a mask that hardens is fine on skin and destructive in hair. Luckily, our dry clay powder is formulated for use on both hair and facial skin.Â
Is a clay mask better than a clarifying shampoo? They do different jobs. A clarifying shampoo uses surfactants to strip everything, including natural oils. A clay mask adsorbs buildup at the surface and, in this formula, adds slip on the way out.
Why do clay masks usually ruin textured hair? Because clay dries hard, and hair encased in setting clay tangles and snaps during rinsing. However, nineteen percent of this formula is mucilage, which keeps the paste pliable from application to rinse.
Can I leave it on longer than thirty minutes? The rule is moisture, not time. If you insist, we do not recommend going longer than 45 minutes as long as your hair is covered and still soft. The moment it starts to feel tight or look chalky, rinse — that is the point where clay stops taking oil off your scalp and starts taking water out of your hair.
Is it safe for 4a to 4c hair? It was built for it. Bentonite is deliberately kept to twenty percent and balanced by three gentler clays plus three mucilage sources.
Will it dry my curls out or go hard in my hair?
Not when used as directed. Marshmallow root and fenugreek give the paste real slip, and the key is rinsing before it dries hard. Follow with your usual conditioner or leave-in.
Does this contain protein? I'm cautious about protein overload. Colloidal oatmeal contributes oat protein at a low level. There is no added protein isolate, which makes it suitable for weekly use including on protein-sensitive hair. If your hair is protein-sensitive, follow with a moisturizing conditioner or our leave-in as you normally would.
Why is my hair slightly slippery after rinsing? That is residual mucilage, and it is meant to stay. Squeaky hair means stripped hair.
Will it foam? Slightly. Shikakai and reetha contain natural saponins. A clay mask that foams a little is unusual — it is on purpose and what sets us apart from our competitors.
What does it smell like? Earthy, with a green herbal note from the neem and a nutty note from the rice bran. Mixing produces a sharp vinegar smell that fades within two or three minutes of application.
Can I mix it with water instead of vinegar? For the face, yes. For hair, the vinegar is doing chemistry — it brings an alkaline paste into the pH range hair sits at naturally. Water alone leaves the cuticle lifted.
Is it vegan? Yes. Every ingredient is plant-derived or mineral.
Why does it have no preservatives? Because it has no water. Preservatives exist to protect water-based products from microbial growth. A dry powder does not need them, and you mix only what you use.
How long does a jar last? Roughly 4-6 hair treatments or 12+ facial treatments, depending on hair length and how much you use.
